The reviewing stand was constructed for President Taft specifically to view the parade and to deliver his speech following the event. Unfortunately, a mighty rain began just as the parade concluded, forcing everyone in attendance to take cover. The original plan was ruined by the weather, but plans were made to reconvene at the City Auditorium that afternoon for the President's speech.
